I love French butter, it’s made with raw milk and unsalted and my father would not eat anything else. BTW sprinkling a little bit of fleur de sel on top of it is bomb. My dad and I would make a small picnic of radishes, baguette, and the butter, sprinkling that sea salt flakes on top. Heaven!

We were remote camping for a few days and I was amazed at the freshness of food and loved having the covered, fresh butter at every meal. Ingenious! I bought a crock in the airport on the way home.

Instead, I have a block of salted European Butter in it, submerged/covered in water. Left on the counter, it’s always soft and easy to spread it or toss some into a pan when needed. Haven’t had it spoil yet, even though it’s out for a while. So you can buy a cool crock, or just use something you may already have.
